At Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition, we have a mix of administration staff and trail builders who all share the same passion for mountain biking, pristine trails, and our community. Let's meet them:

First up is our Executive Director: Eric Brown. Eric has a long history of trail building and advocacy in the Pacific Northwest. He and his family moved from Seattle to be closer to trails and the outdoors. Eric began as a volunteer trail crew lead and was WMBC's first employee! You may know him as the "Mayor of Bellingham," and can find him chatting with community members and riding his bike with his kids.

Ryan is our Trail Crew Leader and loves to build trails in the woods. Many of our favorite hand-built trails on Galbraith are built by Ryan, including Hidden Valley and Natural Delight!

Kelsey moved to Bellingham with her husband, Henry, in early 2019 from Ohio, and was excited to find a community that was so invested in the outdoors. She became more involved with WMBC in 2019 when she realized she did not know how to ride in a group and showed up at a JoyRiders group ride! Mountain biking has been a huge source of growth and healing for Kelsey, and she loves to channel that at WMBC.

Ellie has been volunteering with WMBC in the Vamos Bike Program since 2018, but officially joined the team in early 2021. When not riding her bike, she spends her time quilting tiny blankets for her cats, rock climbing in the North Cascades, and listening to as many audiobooks as she can.

James started volunteering with WMBC in 2021 and after a season of riding with Middle School kids, he decided he wanted to help them explore the art of trail building. He officially joined the WMBC team in Spring of 2022 to lead the Youth Dig & Ride Days (YDRD) program. When he's not out digging in the woods, you can find James riding his mountain bike all around the PNW, sweating uncontrollably in hot yoga, and exploring with his shepherd/husky mix Major.

Ben loves mountain biking and anything involving trails. When he isn’t riding or digging on singletrack he can be found exploring on his moto, hiking with his dogs, hunting, fishing and pursuing his general love of the outdoors.

Gerry moved to Bellingham in the fall of 2018 from New Jersey, where he spent nearly a decade volunteering with JORBA as the Atlantic County Representative. In Bellingham, Gerry quickly found a home in the WMBC community. He’s co-built Hidden Valley, maintains Brown Pow, and designed and built Swirlz and Larry’s Pizza—two connected blue trails that reflect his passion for fun, flowy, and sustainable design. When he’s not in the woods, you’ll probably find Gerry behind a camera capturing mountain biking and the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest—or out riding with friends on our local trails.

Volunteering with the WMBC since 2022, Bea is dedicated to building community and providing mentorship for youth riders. When she is not on the trails you can find Bea weight lifting, trail running, reading, and hanging out with her cat Jasper.

Erica is the bookkeeper at the WMBC. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest she enjoys anything outdoors. Biking has become a huge part of her life since 2014 when her and husband Loren opened Lenny's Bike Shop in Ferndale and Lynden. When she's not crunching numbers or helping at the bike shop she enjoys spending time with her 3 children and husband outdoors adventuring, biking and camping. As well as cheering on her husband and son Camden at mountain bike races.
