We're excited to announce the opening of Galbraith's newest trail, Lunazul, built by WMBC Trailbuilder Ben Cruz during Summer 2025. Lunazul provides an alternate option for folks who've embarked down Spacewolf.
About 1/3rd of the way down Spacewolf, you reach a small depression with a quick punchy climb. Once you crest the climb, Lunazul branches off to the left. It starts with an optional stump drop into a couple of tight, slight lefts, then opens up into swoopy, bench cut singletrack that winds up and down through the forest like a dirt roller coaster. You'll have a hard time not hooting and hollering all the way down. The trail connects back into Spacewolf just above the bridge, before the climb to the 4000 Road.
This trail has been in the works for 2 years! Initial routing started at the end of 2023 and corridor clearing started in early 2024, with help from a large group of volunteers. Due to other projects and restricted dirt moving windows in the Lake Whatcom Watershed, we had to wait to break ground on this trail until July 2025. Ben took charge on the build, bringing his dog Hank and a bluetooth boombox out to keep him company as he took his vision for the trail from idea to reality in record time. He powered his way through many lingering stumps to make the corridor rideable, eventually having to retire one of the come-a-longs, which you'll see hanging on a tree near the bottom of the trail. The trail was completed by the end of September, but was far too dry to open, so it's been soaking in the moisture this fall, and Ben has been going out occasionally to do maintenance and pack things in. Go check it out and let us know what you think!
Routing is in the works for the upper portion of Lunazul which will start from the same clearing as Larry's Pizza and Spacewolf. We hope to complete the upper portion in Summer 2026 and have it rideable for everyone around this time next year!

The name "Lunazul" is an ode to a previous dog of Ben's, Luna, and the empty bottle of tequila he found while building the trail.

Crazy to believe, but this is all hand built! Ben is truly half man, half machine.

Luna frolicking in the forest and indulging in a mud bath.
