WHATCOM WORLD CUP
Whatcom World Cup is a series of fun, community mountain bike races held Wednesday evenings on Galbraith Mountain each spring and summer. The races are open to all, including youth. Enjoy an evening of racing followed by an after-party with beverages and food!
Racers are given timing chips to zip tie to their forks and number plates to attach to their handlebars before each race - the timer starts when you cross the starting mat!
Pacific Multisports manages the registration, timing, and coordination of races with WMBC.
Issues with timing or registration? Please email info@pacificmultisports.com for help!
Thank you Backcountry Medical Guides for providing certified volunteer EMS at each race and partnering with WMBC to keep these races as safe as possible.

APRÉS: Adult beverages are $3 (cash preferred), all proceeds benefit WMBC or another local non-profit. Most aprés are held on mountain and sponsored by local brewery and/or bike shop. ORDER: Racers self-seed. 30 seconds between each racer; if you need more time just ask and we will give you a 'ghost rider.' No official separate start time for women, however there is a pause between youth and adults for women-identifying racers. JoyRiders generally put a group together, as well.
POINTS: Points are accumulated each race based on your time, your top 7 best race scores will contribute to your overall score. You are racing against your age group in the following categories: male, female, or non-binary.
HARDTAIL CLASS: Accumulate points for hardtail standings each time you ride a hardtail. You do not have to commit to a season of hardtail riding. Points count toward the overall age group standing, no matter what you're riding.
E-MTB CLASS: Accumulate points for e-mtb standings each time you ride an e-mtb. You do not have to commit to a season of e-mtb riding. Points count toward the e-mtb age group standing only.
RACER SAFETY
EMS: Backcountry Medical Guides is providing highly trained EMS volunteers positioned at strategic locations along each course with handheld radios for communication.
VOLUNTEERS: We’ll need roughly 10 volunteers per race (some races more than others) and you will receive our utmost appreciation plus a WWC volunteer shirt, food, and beverages - sign up link above. Backcountry Medical Guides is managing EMS volunteers. Please reach out to jenny@backcountrymedicalguides.org if you're interested in being an EMS volunteer.
RIDER DOWN RULE: If a racer comes across a downed racer, he/she is required to stop and see if the down racer is uninjured before continuing on. If immediate medical aid is needed, call 911 or wait for the next racer to come by. Then one racer will go to inform a race official and one racer stays with the down racer.
GEAR & BIKE SAFETY: Disc brakes are required on your bike. Please complete a thorough bike check ahead of each race. You are responsible for your own bike and gear safety.
DOGS: Please leave your dogs at home if you are racing. If you plan to spectate/ heckle (please do!) and want to bring your dog, it 100% needs to be on leash for Fido and racers’ safety! No exceptions.
PARKING / ACCESS: Please consider how you get to these races. Do not park in the neighborhoods; for south side races park in the Samish Way parking lot and for north side races park at Whatcom Falls park.
TRAIL UPKEEP: Trail maintenance will be scheduled post-race to minimize the extra riders' affect on our trails.
Please contact info@wmbcmtb.org if you have any questions about races and info@pacificmultisports.com for timing or registration issues
